We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:30 a.m. in our private transport and travel for about 4 hours, passing Abra Málaga, until we reach Carrizales or San Luis, the starting point of our adventure.
We begin with a downhill bike ride lasting about 3 to 4 hours until reaching Santa María. Along the way, we’ll visit the Huamanmarca archaeological site and enjoy stunning landscapes that transition from highland to jungle, as well as observe birds, medicinal plants, and tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, papaya, avocado, coffee, and coca. You’ll also have the chance to meet local families and witness their daily lives.
In the afternoon (around 3:00 p.m.), you’ll have the optional opportunity to go rafting on the Urubamba River, with rapids ranging from level III to IV.
Overnight in a hostel in Santa María.
DAY 2: SANTA MARÍA – HOT SPRINGS – SANTA TERESA
After an early breakfast, we begin a hike along the Urubamba River, lasting approximately 7 to 8 hours, with various ascents and descents. We’ll also walk a well-preserved section of an original Inca Trail.
Along the way, we’ll see a wide variety of fruit trees and medicinal plants used by locals, as well as wildlife including tropical birds and possibly wild animals. We will cross the Urubamba River using a traditional pulley basket (oroya) used by local farmers.
Afterwards, we’ll arrive at the Cocalmayo hot springs in Santa Teresa, where you can enjoy a relaxing soak. We then continue on to Santa Teresa, where we’ll spend our second night.
Overnight in a hostel in Santa Teresa.
DAY 3: SANTA TERESA – AGUAS CALIENTES
In the morning, you will have the option to experience ziplining (canopy) with the “Cola de Mono” adventure park (optional). After breakfast, we’ll begin our hike toward the Hidroeléctrica station.
We will follow a scenic route through a canyon with a pleasant climate, passing waterfalls, lush green mountains, and plantations of banana, mango, avocado, cacao, orange, coca, and more. Eventually, we’ll spot our first views of Machu Picchu Mountain.
After lunch at Hidroeléctrica, we’ll walk along the train tracks for about 3 hours until we reach Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have the option to visit the town’s hot springs.
Overnight in a hotel in Aguas Calientes.
DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we take the bus up to Machu Picchu, giving us the chance to be among the first to enter the Lost City of the Incas and witness a breathtaking sunrise.
We’ll then enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu, lasting around 2.5 hours, visiting the most important sites such as the Intiwatana, Temple of the Condor, Sacred Rock, and others.
After the tour, you’ll have free time to explore the mysterious city on your own. (Optional: climb Huayna Picchu Mountain for an additional USD 65 to enjoy panoramic views of the citadel.)
