Upon arrival in the town of Machu Picchu, you’ll have the chance to leisurely explore its charming streets and even visit the thermal medicinal baths, located at the upper part of the small village.

After a restful night, you’ll be ready for a visit to the Inca citadel, located at the top of the mountains: Machu Picchu, approximately 2,500 meters above sea level, surrounded by majestic mountains and deep valleys. The breathtaking panorama seems to touch the sky, evoking a profound connection with nature and the very essence of the earth. Itinerary

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Journey from Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Village):

In the morning, around 09:00 AM, our tourist transport will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco. From there, we’ll begin our journey to the Ollantaytambo train station (approximately a 1 hour and 40-minute car ride). [If the train departs from Poroy, the car ride is 30 minutes, followed by a 3.5-hour train journey.

Upon arrival at the Poroy or Ollantaytambo station, we’ll board the train heading to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Village. During our comfortable train ride, we’ll enjoy spectacular landscapes, towering mountains, rivers, and a wide variety of flora and fauna typical of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Once we arrive in Aguas Calientes, a staff member will be waiting for us outside the station to welcome us and escort us to our hotel. After checking in and resting, we’ll have the afternoon free to stroll and explore this charming village. You may wish to visit the thermal baths (entrance not included), perfect for relaxing your muscles and enjoying their medicinal properties.

In the evening, our guide will contact us to coordinate the next day’s guided tour of Machu Picchu. They will provide all necessary information, either at the hotel or by phone, and will be available to answer any questions.

Overnight in Aguas Calientes village.

Day 2: Visit to Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco:

In the morning, at the time indicated by our guide, we’ll head to the bus station to board the bus that will take us to the entrance of the majestic Machu Picchu citadel, located at 2,430 meters (7,970 feet) above sea level. The 30-minute zigzagging bus ride up the mountain offers incredible views.

Once we arrive, we’ll meet the group and proceed to the entrance control, where we will need to present our ticket and identification. Then, we’ll begin our 2.5-hour guided tour of the Machu Picchu citadel. The guide will share the fascinating history of the Incas, the impressive architecture, and the profound spiritual significance of this site as we explore its most iconic corners, enjoy panoramic views, and take unforgettable photos of this world wonder.

At the end of the tour, we’ll take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where we can enjoy lunch (not included) at one of the local restaurants, or spend free time exploring the village, visiting the thermal baths, or browsing the artisan market.

In the afternoon, depending on our train schedule, we’ll head to the train station to board our return train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo (approximately 2 hours) or Poroy (approximately 3.5 hours), where our agency staff will be waiting to transport us back to the city of Cusco. We’ll arrive in Cusco around 8:30 PM, concluding a day full of discovery and adventure.

If you wish to add more adventure to your visit to Machu Picchu, you can choose to hike one of the surrounding mountains. General entry to Machu Picchu is included in the tour, but if you wish to ascend to one of the surrounding mountains, you will need to purchase an additional ticket, as these hikes are not part of the general circuit.

In case tickets for Circuit 2 are unavailable, you may be assigned to Circuit 1 or 3, depending on availability. It is important to note that tickets tend to sell out faster as the date of use approaches, so we recommend booking in advance.
